I have Scott and Isfila in my library. For anyone wanting to go deep into the rabbit warren that is Ottoman and republican Turkey then isfila is the one. And it is bilingual English-Turkish.

Hi DJCMHOH, You asked: Quote: Is Pulko still produced??? I haven't seen a new edition recently (although I no longer have access to good philatelic bookshop since Vera Trinder's closed in London). The Pulko website has only minimal information and their Facebook page doesn't appear to have any updates since 2014. I don't expect to buy a new edition although I find my 2002 edition to be a useful additional resource. It has helpful colour pictures of stamps (more generous in this respect than SG and in colour unlike my old Michel catalogue). It also has some other useful features such as a few pages of negative seal postmarks. I hope to buy the Isfila catalogue and their postmark books at some point. |

Renden: Quote: .....no value..... Here's a small image with Arabic numerals which may be of help to you. The "20" value - - appears twice on the stamp. Oddly enough, though Arabic text reads from right to left, numbers have the most significant digit to the left as we do with Roman text. |

Quote: I use Dr. Andreas Birken for vast depth of the Dulos issues, etc. Rod, Pardon my ignorance, but who/what is Dr. Andreas Birken? Agreed, I use Scott catalogs, which are a good basic starting point for Turkey. I have a 2-volume Isfila ordered and on its way from Turkey! My collection: I just printed out all the Steiner pages for Turkey (modified only to include page numbers) up through 1960 (173 pages), which I decided would be my cut-off date, with the "front of the book" in one Vario F binder and all the "back of the book" items in a second Vario F binder. I will then use either my own modified pages or Steiner's blank quadrille pages to add any unusual items or interesting postmarks, etc. I'm now in the process of moving all my stamps over from all my previous disparate areas (Scott pages and a collection I purchased on Minkus pages) - fun stuff |

Conversely, I've just parcelled up my Turkey volumes (three Lighthouses and a Schaubek) to go to the auctioneer! |

Well, it was fun, in a sort of twisted way, sorting them out, but I've decided that I need to make space (and a little cash to fund future purchases). I'm keeping France and the French area, GB and Commonwealth (though I haven't done anything with those for some time) and a few other countries in which I have a particular interest. |

Thanks Rod, those really look great, but learning German I'm afraid would be too steep of a learning curve for me..."teaching an old dog new tricks" and all... |

Although this might be old hat to some of you, but I found a marvelous website which cross references the numbers for all of the major catalogs. It has also helped me get a good overview of all of the Ottoman Empire stamps https://yanstan.com/TURKEY/trmm.htm |
