How does this happen? These two stamps, from different sellers, are the exact same stamp (cut perfs lower left). The prices are pretty ridiculous also!

Well martinm_45 seems to specialize in 5c compound perfs, as he has two different ones listed, including the duplicate one above, and this one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Georg...AOSwvTBZuvhR

which to my eye does not appear to have a shot at being perf 10 vertically.

My guess is they are both scammers. A stamp like that would never be offered on ebay. I wonder where they got the picture because it is not listed on the Siegel 423C Census or the PF certificate archive. Any ideas?

I would adore spending $13K for a single stamp with a seller who has a rating of 0.

The first seller has had this stamp up for at least a couple of weeks; he has a number of revenues that I looked at and I remember seeing this item. Don't know that he is a scammer, he may just be very misinformed since his other prices seem pretty reasonable.

He just wants offers. Very common legit ebay seller practice.

Advertising, to thousands of mildly interested people, at the "I don't want to sell and pay ebay 10%" price...

Perhaps it's best regarded as a cheap effective marketing strategy. It got people talking here.

This is just the ebay version of "Make me an offer." ebay requires you to put in a BIN price when you want offers so sellers put in one that no one will pay so they can collect offers for a while. Completely legitimate and effective practice employed by thousands of sellers big and small.

This does have a chance to be 12x10, which is a rare stamp.

Obviously it could be a perf 10 coil with added perforations as well.
