I have a 5c Mauritius silver jubilee. I have 12 different ones. This one has a very slight vertical line left of flag pole.I have seen others that have vertical line but look much taller. My question how big does the line have to be to be of value. Thanks

I understand but I don't have a scanner to get good pics. If you know about the extra flag pole or lighting rod they talk about this stamp you will know what I am asking about. thanks for the input

The extra flag pole and lightning rod varieties aren't found on the Mauritius 5c.

However, there is a "dot by flagstaff" variety.

Here is the Stanley Gibbons illustration of the main listed varieties. There are more but they do not occur in a consistent plate position and can't be considered as significant. These lovely stamps are a "flyspecker's paradise!"

It doesn't sound like a listed variety, but definitely worth keeping.

Do you have a scan you can share with us?

Bumping this older topic. I was very fortunate to pick up a few stamps in the dime box at the latest stamp bourse. I saw this group, and snatched them up. When I got home and was able to do some higher definition scans, the "Short extra flagstaff" variety appeared on not one, but two of them. These are Gold Coast, 6d and 1sh varieties, Scott 110, 111, and SG 115b, 116b.

First, 6d:

Then, the 1sh:

I find it interesting that my 6d version also has that dot mentioned by the OP. Maybe they have a short extra flagstaff version after all?

Anyway, a US $0.20 investment has a catalog value of 700 pounds in my 2010 SG catalog. It's a pity that the 1sh has some cut perfs on the lower left. But, I'm not complaining ...

Any of you who collect the King George V Silver Jubilee issues might find the handbook by A.J. Ainscough helpful. It lists information about all of the issues as well as the known flaws for each country. As with all of this kind of literature, it is out of print; so you will have to find a stamp bookseller to obtain a copy. The title is "Silver Jubilee of King George V Stamps Handbook".

I looked up the Mauritius issues and found the two Gibbons listed flaws noted. They can be found at positions Row 8 / Column 3 and Row 8 / Column 4 on the sheet of stamps. I also saw a note that said the Mauritius 1R is the rarest of the colonial issues because most of the 1R values were used for revenue purposes.
