I am a passionate collector of French stamps and postal history. I started by the time I was 8 and got hooked on French stamps in the period just following World War II. By the time I went to college, I had acquired most of the affordable (for me) French stamps. Fortunately this was a period when prices were low and my collection was fairly complete. Fast forward to last 10 years. I started working on my collection seriously--even to creating my own album pages. I started using French catalogues and reference materials and found out how lacking my collection really was. While I will collect almost any French stamps, I am specializing on the stamps of the 19th century and the post-war liberation issues.
As a side light, I have been acquiring documents and covers from each important epoch in French history, i.e. a letter dating from the reign of terror (French Revolution), a letter sent by balloon mail during the Franco-Prussian War, a call for soldiers by Charles VI to his supporters and more.
