Maybe someone has answered this question on the forums in the past,
but my question is:
Does the USPS pay royalties to use Disney characters or Elvis, etc. on their stamps.
I'm just curious about this.
Thanks.

I do not know about individual stamps, but yes, the USPS pays royalties in some cases. The flag and statue of liberty issue comes to mind, where the artist that made the statue in Las Vegas that was used on the stamp wanted to get credit.

Might be a token amount but its still a waste of our money. And Disney gets free advertising. They should be paying us!

My understanding, which may be completely wrong, is that Disney grants the license to use their characters on postage stamps without payment for the publicity received. However, when USPS sells that coffee mug with the stamp reproduced on it, Disney gets a royalty.
