After years of looking I finally found a double transfer on the A.B.&S. (A. Beecher & Son) match stamp. Upon examination of the stamp, one fairly long blue silk fiber was found on the back. The top stamp is a proof like copy of RO23a to compare to the darker stamp showing the double transfer. The stronger doubling is noted on the right side and slighter at the top USIR label. Doubling can be found in the "S" and "B" and the uppermost line above the "B". Other noticeable doubling is found in the horizontal lines between the right "1" and "CENT", there is some upward doubling of "CENT" and "U.S.INTER.REV."

Lovely stamp. This is not an error, it's a plate variety. I don't have this one yet.
