I just now got round to inserting the 2016 supplement for My Lighthouse Iceland album. I got it last year and don't do much with new issues but decided to get the pages out of their envelope. It looks as if over half the single stamps are provided for with factory installed splitback Showgard style mounts, not the open top types. Both types appear mixed on the same page, the smaller stamps still have open tops, anything higher than 30 mm seems to get a split back.
Lighthouse has for years used split backs on large pieces such as souvenir sheets but not until now on single stamps. I dislike the Showgard types, they give me issues with flatness and potential damage to the stamp when inserting. If this is a design change, I do not like it and may try to get supplements when I can with no mount and attach my own.
Lighthouse has been doing this for years on the Canada Pages.
They use the split backs for self adhesive with backing as the stamps are thick and heavy for a stamp and are held much more securely than with top load.
I haven't checked any others as I use both types of mounts. I just put the stamps in and am done.
