Good Evening Everyone,

I have what I believe is a Netherlands 1872-88 12 1/2 cent imperforate stamp. I'm wondering what the value would be. Scott Catalog states that "Imperforate varieties are proofs" however S.C. doesn't list a value.

Thanks for the assistance.

That is not an imperforate stamp but a cut-out from a piece of postal stationery.

Petert4522.

Did they make paper stationary. Do you know if the proofs were on different paper than the printed stamps ?.

I have a 10c that I am not sure about. I thought it was a perforated stamp trimmed, but the paper looks different to the other stamps I have. It seems to be thinner and more transparent. I have tried a search for stationary, but all I can see are cards.

My stationary catalogue only shows envelopes with 5 and 12˝ cent imprints. (ref: Catalogus van de Postwaardestukken van Nederland en Overzeese Rijksdelen, Geuzendam, 2008)

My Proof catalogue says the 10 cent proofs are only in black, pale blue, pale brown, green, violet, and yellow brown. (ref: Catalogus van de Proeven, van Dieten, 1966)

This only leaves a trimmed stamp for your 10 cent example above.

I'm not an expert on paper, but the NVPH speciality catalogue says (in translation):

"The paper is without watermark and from different qualities: from thin translucent to thick. Sometimes soft and wooly. Also light bluish or lightly striped paper occurs."
