Good Morning,

I was trying to identify this Austria 3kr red stamp but I don't know what paper type this is - I've scanned the back of the stamp to try and identify it. To me, it appears the back of the stamp has the impression of some sort of design on it. Also, the paper appears to me to be ticker than the others.

Thanks for looking

It looks like the cancel bled through
The "stamp" looks more like stationery to me, given the large borders

Hi souldjer777,

Scott states that full margins for this issue are 1˝mm so larger margins are of course possible.

The first issue in 1850 was made on hand made paper, varying in thickness. The watermark was K.K.H.M. in script letters, showing vertically in the gutter between the panes. Parts of these letters show on margin stamps in the sheet.

The horizontal line in the third scan looks like the bottom frame line of the stamp.

Thank you for all your help. Thank you for spotting the other frame line below this stamp. You can see the beginning edge and horizontal line at the bottom match the above stamps position.

The measuring tool in my photo editing software shows 2.7 millimeters between them.

So if this is hand made paper - Does anyone know a catalog number / type / estimated value?

Again, thank you everyone for your help

Darn, I thought it would be a special paper variety seeing as how it's hand made paper. Thanks again!
