No estimates were less then $100. Those were catalog values, which are meaningless for certain types of items. Fancy cancels is one of them.

To me the most attractive of the bunch shown is the first one with CDS cancel. I would be shocked if, given enough searching, one could not find an attractive 73 with cds cancel. I collect unused primarily so I wouldn't be looking for one but would think you could find one that satisfies for a lot less than$3750. It doen't Have to be the finest known for me or most collectors

Black Jacks are notorious for poor centering; finding a VF-S example with a clear blue cancel and such a sharp early impression would be VERY difficult.

I sat through the Monday session. Insanely strong results. Didn't get any of the lots I bid on.

I assume that it was the stage company usage that made the check so expensive, since Black Jacks used on checks are not particularly scarce. But lot 1195 went for a reasonable number.

I was the underbidder on 1195. At the end of the day I really was only interested in the lot for the CDV and 2 of the documents in it. I already have enough plain jane #73 illegal usages and revenue cancels off document. The winning bid + juice + shipping was $625 and going above that was more than I wanted to pay just for those 3 items, even if I could have eventually sold/traded some of the other items.
