Usually they are the high values done by the uneducated who were not aware that they only come with one or two straight edges.

Heh. The rare scenario where stamps with straight edges are universally worth more than those without.

Even if the stamp in question ends up being reperfed, I'm not upset. It's a learning experience, and I paid far enough below market value that I won't be wounded too badly.

Regardless, it's for my collection anyway, not for resale. My heirs, whoever they may be, can deal with it after I've gone to the great beyond.

Sorry for my wording of "quite a few" earlier. I don't believe that was an accurate representation of what he told me. Either way, I wasn't indicating that I thought your stamp has been reperfed. I'm not sure, in general, that I can tell at all that a stamp has been reperfed just by looking unless it is just terrible. I see posts all the time about reperfed stamps and I don't see how people tell by eye.

No worries. I'm the same way. I'm admittedly very poor at telling whether stamps have been reperforated.

Here are 1600dpi scans of the 3 stamps. IMO, the $1 is clearly the worst of the 3, for any number of reasons. Gotta love Shop at Home TV...
