A buyer in Spain tells me he has not received his item. I am required to respond ('take action'). But when I try to do so I am taken to the log in page for the Spanish ebay site even though the item was sold on the Australian ebay site. As I am not registered with the Spanish ebay site, I cannot log in and therefore cannot 'take action.'

I've complained repeatedly in the past about this to ebay but they have not changed the system. How stupid is this?

Hi JimJam,

I'm a seller on the US ebay site, if you have not already, try responding from your seller page. When I've tried to respond through ebay emails it brings me to the customers home ebay site, however when I respond from my seller page I do not have any problems. If that doesn't work you can try to just sign in to the Spanish site with your current Australian ebay info that's also worked for me on several ebay sites.

Good Luck
Ron

Interesting! ebay keeps telling me to sell overseas. $900.00 last 90 days. I only sell in the US because customs forms and tariffs. When you sell many many stamps at $3.00 to $75.00 here in the states, the headache to overseas just doesn't add up for me. I wish you luck and maybe charge for the customer to sign for the item or proff of delivery--good luck

You can for sure kiss goodbye to your money and stamps.

ebay and paypal are only interested in the buyer. If you did not send it tracked and signed for, dont waste any time on this. Its gone.

Actually, ebay and PayPal care about their shareholders (just like any other company). The Board of Directors have a fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders and they listen to them. So if anyone wants influence with these companies, simply become a large shareholder.

Spain is on my 'Do Not Sell to' list. I have a very short list of countries I will ship to. Italy is another as is all of Eastern Europe. I have had wannabe bidders in my prohibited countries get very insulted at my declining their bids. I've noted a decline in losses since I tightened the screws. I feel for collectors in those places as I think 90% of the problem comes from having postal systems that employ thieves. I hope for the OP's sake this wasn't a high dollar transaction, because I think he's screwed.

Stamps1962-you nailed it. There is money for stamps overseas and lots of it. Gee, working in the mail system over there for pennies a day probably and here comes an envelope/package with big ' ebay' flashing lights all over the package or letter-ding ding ding-$$$$--wish it could change.
And I have tried the ebay center in Kentucky or where ever you send it to-just way more hassle than it worth, sadly.

Once you've registered with any ebay site, you are automatically registered on ebay in all countries. Just sign in and all your data will show (but in the language of the country you're signed in to).

Rendan I currently ship to Canada but I may stop. We ship using the ebay shipping labels and charge less for postage than our actual costs but I still get complaints about my shipping charges. After a while I will get tired of these and only ship to Canadians on an exemption basis. It's too bad that a few complainers spoil it for everybody.

I can ship to Canada? No way....I handwrite the address of the customer as well as my own. One stamp and away they go. I have faith the order will get to its destination..and they have over 600+ times..

Most of my sales outside Australia are not through ebay and have been selling to those buyers for some time.

The problem between ebay shipping labels and Canada is not my problem. If you want my business, including the value of our $ at present, deal with ebay and do not penalize Canadian buyers. !
......and my name is Renden or René

Why are these sellers not being "inclusive"

I'm not penalizing Canadians. I sell stamps on pages. I charge $8.50 for the 1st collection and all additional collections shipped at the same time are free. I almost always subsidize the costs of shipping. I can't control the costs the US Post Office charges but bidders should simply choose to pay my stated shipping charge or not bid.

Renden,

Are you saying that sellers in the U.S. (and other countries) should be forced to incur negative feedbacks due to shipping rates to Canada set by USPS?

If a seller is simply passing on the charges they incur (remember, that both ebay and PayPal take their cut of the shipping charges as well), and buyers in Canada are not happy about what they are being forced to pay, how is that the seller's fault? Why should the seller continue to ship to Canada if they know that they are likely to incur negative feedback and replies?

It's a lose-lose proposition for the seller.

I've not encountered this myself, and I still happily ship to Canada and (most) other countries, but at the end of the day, it is every seller's RIGHT to choose the countries they will or will not ship to, just as it is every buyer's right to choose which sellers they will or won't do business with.

It has NOTHING to do with being "inclusive", a word that these days gets applied far too loosely and inaccurately.
