All over the world, communities have had to find ways of Coping with Poverty.

I don't have any postcards of Hooverville (the Depression-era tent/shanty city in New York's Central Park) or of soup kitchen lines or ...

... but along came a "Breton wedding party - the beggars' meal // and the corner to the dishes", which is a clumsy translation of "Ure Noce bretonne - La Repas des Mendiants // et le coin a la vaisselle" that I am sure one/more of you can smooth-out.

Q/ Do you have any postcards of any other community Coping with Poverty?

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey

Interesting card - I like the piles of what looks like dirty dishes in the corner. I never encountered the term Mendicant before.

Three postcards illustrated by Francisque Poulbot for the "Ligue National contre le Taudis" (League against squalor) which came into being in 1927.

Here you see children discussing the size of fleas, a pig in the larder, and two children talking about the dreadful smell in an apartment being two dead rats under the mattress.
