Not sure if I got the colors right... Is it a US 1 or 1a? Can I have please have an opinion from our experts here?  This is the vendor scan:  This is my scan.  |

Hard to be sure about colors on the internet ...
Its a late impression -- does not look like it has a chance at being Dark Brown (1a) to me.
Most likely Red Brown (1). |

Doesn't look like a Scott 1a at all to me. If (either of) the scans are accurate, then there's a very high probability it's a Scott 1. |

Bought it assuming it is a US#1 only and not as a 1a. So no regrets there. The internet scan seem to be enhanced . But I was more into the margins and look/feel and not the color.. Still doesn't hurt to check with our community experts !  I am going to send it to PF to make sure there ain't no hidden faults.. |

Interesting observation RG.
I checked in the fluid and under UV. I can't see any visible repair job or a crease...
One more thing to check with PF... :) |

Hello Folks How about this one... I think it is a (1-a Dark Brown).. I checked the color shades in Andy's collection (shared by Craig). Not too obsessed with the shade. This is the first item in my book. So just wanting to label it correctly..   |

rgstamp was correct previously. It was a #1 with a minor crease at the bottom. PF confirmed it. This new one has a tiny inclusion at the back. No thins or creases visible in the watermark fluid as well. My wife thinks it is 1a-blackish brown shade. She has better sense of color than me... |

The second stamp certainly at least has a shot at being a Dark Brown.
It appears somewhat faded - maybe that's just the scan? |
