We have all seen a number of problems with ebay sellers selling fakes and doctored stamps, but here is a new one - a relatively common stamp in a housing that make it look like a certified item selling for about 30 times it's normal value.

I keep seeing postings from this seller, but they keep changing the listing name. I wonder if they actually sell any of these items.

This is not an ebay strategy (per se), they are called 'encapsulated stamps'. You can learn more about them at the bottom of this page http://psestamp.com/ or by searching this forum. Graded stamps are typically offered well above any normal or catlog values. Some folks are willing to pay higher prices for a grade that is considered unusual. Other folks hate the grading practice and also dislike encapsulated stamps (since they are hard to mount).

You can also search this forum to view one of many threads where the pros and cons of grading stamp is discussed.

Don't be so hard on the guy ,he is selling plastic containers for $150.00 and $1.00 for the stamp .

You all have to understand that some collectors don't have million dollar budgets ,but they still want to impress family and friends with their philatelic knowledge and smart buying of investment stamps .

Someday FLOORTRADE STAMP CO. will be selling to this crowd, I started collecting dusty old cigar boxes ,old yellow glassines and invest in a hot sealing plastic holder machine also . I even will have a fancy certificate to expertise stamps with my signature . Floortrader Stamp Co. has no interest to sell to you or anybody else that own a stamp catalog or is a member of the APS or any stamp society . My reasoning if 30% return the material I sell .I will still make huge profits.

I been trained by all those stamp dealers that sold me stamps in the past especially all those from the New York City area ,they can steal your money and you still walk away with the idea that you pulled one over on them and walk away smiling .

Remember we give a refund right away on any compliant because there is another collector standing behind him with cash in hand ,it is a numbers game not a game to be proven right or wrong .
