The Civil War tax rates are relatively easy to find, thanks to Mike Mahler's excellent books, but the rates from 1898 are a bit tougher to find (in my opinion). I've been told they were published in a 1998 article in The American Revenuer, but I don't have that issue.

Several years ago I stumbled across images of an original tax rate booklet from 1898, which I saved but then forgot about.

Posted now for public reference.

I actually have an original War-Revenue Law of 1898 (schedule A, B, and C) and the 1901 reduction.

By any chance do you have later rates, say 1915 or 1920? I am not sure how frequently the rates changed.

From page 44 of the July 1920 U.S. Postal Guide:

Section 160 deals with proprietary products, section 161 with exceptions.
