One of the secrets in Danish philatelie is the famous imperf stamp
Scott:54a with the Sollested cancel.Only 18 examples are known.
A strip of 3,pairs & singles.
Too make the story short;one day in the town of Sollested the postmaster
received(1906) as usual their stock of stamp sheets.(Sound familiar?)Inside was one
sheet imperfed!
It was a busy postoffice, but nevertheless the postal employee
(unknown exactly who) cut up the sheet and sold these stamps. Why he did not
remove or return the defective sheet is also unknown.
In those years there was frequent mail exchange with Poland which was
very close. Some beleive there may be some examples hidden away in Poland!
The author tells the story in the link below.(Will have to translate).
