RD1 is a very difficult stamp to find used on a document. I had a client look for many years for one and we never found an example. I looked at thousands of documents.
Why are they so scarce? Were the taxes primarily in 2-cent or 5-cent increments so the 1c was never used? There apparently was enough of a need for a 1c denomination in later years (RD42, RD67, etc.) to justify having one.
