This is a multiple question item. I have searched various subjects but, can't find the answers I want. I have been cataloging stamps in a spreadsheet for a friend, and I just ran across used stamps that had been removed from envelopes, but the perforations on one side were cut off (by scissors, I guess). However the design is undamaged. Does this make the stamp Poor, Average or F/VF, if the rest of the stamp is intact? 2nd question: If perforations are worn down through wear and tear on one side, but design is not damaged, I assume the grade would still be Fine or better, correct?

They'd be described as poor in the UK, where centring is usually a separate part of the quality description. Unless damaged stamps are rare, interest in them will be minimal.

Certainly if the perforation teeth were cut off, then the stamp would be considered seriously damaged. However, you should consider the possibility that these are stamps from the edge of a sheet and never had perforations on that side at all. In which case they are not damaged, but are generally not considered as nice as stamps with perforation teeth all around.

There is also the possibility that what you have is a coil stamp, some of which have trimmed or no perforations on one or both sides.

For example this Southern Rhodesia coil stamp from 1929 - SG2c imperforate on the left.

Or this pair, Union of South Africa from 1914 - SG19 imperforate on both sides.

So, in fact the stamp may not be damaged at all but until you upload a scan it is only guessing.
