In the process of researching souvenir card images for a new website, I came across a series of Canada Post cards that I was completely unaware of. These appear to have been first issued in the 1980s and continued into at least the '90s. Does anyone have any further information about them? Are they still being issued by Canada Post?

You're correct. These souvenir cards were issued for international exhibitions from 1981 through 1998. They are listed in Unitrade under the heading "International Philatelic Exhibition Cards."

This leads into another question -- were these designed as postcards (for mailing) or souvenir cards (not meant for mailing)? I don't have these in-hand, so I don't know their dimensions or whether they are printed on the back. And I'd love to find out production stats, like how many were printed and/or sold. That probably isn't in Unitrade.

Strictly a souvenir item, not designed for mailing. But, often found with a special cancel from the exhibition.

I don't have one, but Unitrade says standard size is 150mm x 200 mm. Assume that means the portrait orientation ones, like the first 3 shown above. Lists 20 of them.

Does Unitrade list any information about how many of each card were printed?

No, Unitrade does not indicate how many of each card were printed.

After some mighty Googling I've managed to come up with images for all but one of the 20 Canada Post philatelic expo cards. The one I'm missing is #17 in Unitrade: Canada '92. This is described as 150mm x 105mm, which is considerably smaller than any of the others and seems to be a horizontal format.

Could anyone share a scan of this card or point me towards an image online?

Thank you Jarnick! That is a big help. Is the back really b/w? And are those actual stamps on the back with a first day cancel?

I will post all the cards, probably later today, once I get them all organized.

Yes, the back is black & white and no, they are black and white photos of the stamps not the actual stamps. The cancel is not part of the original card. I remember applying it to the card at the exhibition.

Thanks for that information. There is one other card I know of, CAPEX 87 (Unitrade #9), which was also printed on the back. If anyone is aware of others please let me know.

And there is one card I still need an image of: Stamp World London '90 (Unitrade #14). I was able to locate a grainy b/w image which at least helped with cataloging, but I will need something better for the website.

FYI, these will ultimately be posted on the site of the Souvenir Card Collectors Society: http://www.souvenircards.org/gallery/gallery.html
