US Overrun Countries: Insane Number Of Printing Anomalies On Belgium (#914)?

I just picked up a set of sheets of the Overrun Countries set.

I'm familiar with the reversed color errors, the "KORPA" error, and various double impressions that Scott lists. However, in the preface to the set, Scott mentions numerous other varieties/anomalies NOT listed by Scott.

Looking through the sheets, the Belgium (Scott #914) stamp appears to have WAAAAAAY more anomalies than any of the other stamps. Is that accurate, or do I have a wonky sheet?

I don't think that any of them are the Scott-listed double impression, but there's definitely stuff going on. See image below of the most dramatic of the stamps in the sheet.

Good grief, this series was a flyspecker's heaven... or hell, depending on your perspective.

What are you looking at here with these Belgium stamps?

If you want to find something really rare, look for a stamp with any country flag where the perfs actually cut into the design. I cannot ever recall seeing one; ABNCO was very careful.

Centerstage98, look at the lettering of the word 'Belgium' on each stamp.

French's Encyclopedia of Plate varieties actually only lists a few:


If you really want to have fun, French's lists an enormous amount of Netherlands and Luxembourg, mostly due to subtle differences in the underlying flag dots in the background. Enjoy ... it will keep you busy for many years.
