Here is my take on the views set(s):

I recently started on the task of sorting out my Portugal, Colonies and related areas and found that the Scott catalog is, well, not very useful when it comes to these areas. In particular I've noticed that many of the early issues have multiple perforation sizes, but they are only noted by Scott. They don't go into any detail as to which stamps are found in which perforation size.

I guess that is where having some sort of reference beyond Scott. That was the case with these Mozambique Co. issues.

Scott lumps the whole series into 1 set and only notes that they are found in perf 12 1/2, 14 & 15. As a footnote they also state that there are shades of several denominations.

I was really only interested in figuring out the perforations and not so much interested in the shades.

Doing some googling I found this thread and my answer, thanks to GeoffHa.

It looks like SG catalog does a better job of splitting out this set, into both perforations AND shades. The "shades" Scott mentions appear to be different printings from different years, and not just shades.

I'm not familiar with the SG catalogs so it took me a bit to decipher the catalog page and sort my stamps according to he information.

Steiner, of course, follows the Scott listing so this was not going to suit me, and as has been noted the Steiner layout is a bit clunky, so I needed to come up with my own Steiner type page, using AlbumEasy.

What I was able to come up with, according to the SG listings, is 3 different sets, spaced out over 5 pages. I do like the way my arrangement came out better than Steiner, but may choose to redo it at a later date.

Something of note is that the SG catalog page has, for the first set (1918-24), 4 stamps listed with perf 15 variants.....6c, 7 1/2c, 30c and 50c.....none of which I had, which I thought was weird. Especially with the quantity of duplicates I seem to have. But, for that same set I came up with 4 OTHER issues in perf 15 that are not listed. Those being 1/4c, 1 1/2c, 2c, and 2 1/2c.

Anyway, here are my 5 pages for these 3 sets.

Many of us could've told you that long before you started...

Thank you for posting your researched pages of Mozambique Company!

My pages of these stamps are not as detailed as yours. I lumped the perf 14 and 15 together. But have the perf 12.5 separate. So far I just layer/stack the shades as I don't have many shades.

I'm missing some but it was nice to see that for what I have made spaces for, the only stamp not out there to fill a space in my album is the Scott 121 (6 cent in carmine and black) in perf 12.5.

The way I interpret the SG catalog page that GeoffHa posted is that the 6c Carmine and Blue only comes in perf 14 & perf 15 and not perf 12 1/2. Maybe I am seeing
it wrong though.

No, that's how it reads. I now have a more recent SG catalogue, which, from memory, blurs things further! I'll try to post a photo in the next day or two.

Photos of the relevant pages from SG's Portuguese catalogue. You'll see that perf 14 has now become 13 1/2 x 15. Confusingly, there's then a note that perf 15 copies are rarer, despite there having been no reference to perf 15 at the head of the section!

Having previously got rid of my Portuguese stamps, I then acquired a large and messy accumulation earlier this year. Once I have time to sort these out, I should be able to add to your images!

Apologies for the photos.

Mundifil (successor to Afinsa) Portuguese Colonies catalogue (I have the 2019 edition), sheds more light on the perforations for these series than SG or Scott it looks like.

It distinguishes 5 perforations for the 1918-24 series - most values in 14, 15 and 12.75, as well as a few values each in 13.5 and 15x14. The perf 14 (1918) and perf 12.75 (1924) are most common (based on pricing), the others less common.

The 1920 surcharged series exists with all values in perf 14 and most in perf 15.

The 1921-23 series exist with most values in perf 14 & 12.75, with a couple in 13.5 and one in perf 15. No perf varieties for the 1925 series.

Can post images of the relevant pages if there is interest, let me know.

I have some others that are different then those in your pictures, from what I can tell.

sorry if this is completely irrelevant to what sets you are going for. I am not sure of the dates of them I actually just put them in the sleeve last night so they were fresh in my mind. I do think that I have a few others I have not fully sorted them all yet.

gmot - That would be great if you could. I guess if I am going to redo my pages already I might as well jump in with both feet.

Yes - excellent. What I don't understand is why Gibbons changed its perf measurements for the first issue from 14 to 13 1/2 x 15, and made an obscure remark about perf 15.
