Can anyone clarify the color of this Switzerland Scott # 50? Is it gold or gold bronze? I have no experience in color differences. Thanks, Bob

Scott Catalogue lists this stamp as gold. Also lists a yellowish bronze and a reddish bronze.
No gold bronze is listed in Scott. |

Yes Yellowish Bronze not gold bronze. That's what happens when you do this stuff half asleep.
So, any opinions on gold or yellowish bronze?
Thanks, Bob

Your getting into something a computer screen and a scanner can't do ,that is show the Gold color correctly .
More important is your questionable cancel on the above stamp . As a specialist on Swiss stamps ,I would like to see a certificate with a opinion on the cancel . The high premium on early high value and some low values also on Swiss stamps, created a lot of fake cancels |

Thanks for the insight floortrader. What would the best way and most economical way to do this? What are some company names that would do this? I have submitted baseball cards in the past to a company called PSA but never did anything with stamps. Any help pointing me in the right direction is appreciated. Thank you, Robert

There are many threads on here about Stamp Expertising services. Google and you will find APEX, PF, PSE, Sismondo, etc. I'm sure there are recognized individual experts in Swiss stamps whose cert would carry great weight. |

Better have a look at the controll-mark first!
Was it impressed at the front or at the back???
Looks like it was made fro the front which suggests a printing frorm 1875 onwards so the postmark should be OK.
And also try to eatablish whether 2 [TWO] colours were used as Zumstein suggests.
And last but not least: FORGET about the shades as long as you haven't found out about the type of paper or controll-mark .... |
