APO 90 - PM SF- Was assigned to the 90th Infantry Div beginning out of Birmingham, England on 19 April 1944. The company re-located between France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and back to France until it ceased operations the first time on 1 December 1945.

The Group was re-activated for the Korean War on 21 April 1952. Your cover was when the group was operating out of Seoul, Korea. APO 90 was stationed at Seoul from 21 April 1952 to 23 February 1954. On 24 Feb 1954 the Company re-located to Osan, Korea and Ceased Operations on 20 March 1954.

The Company was re-activated in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on 1 October 1960 and was re-designated to ZipC Code 96290 on 1 January 1965 for the Viet Nam War.

I am going to have to look into whether or not I can identify how USMC/Navy mail was handled in Kaoshiung (and Tsoying) during that period. Dad was a Navy corpsman assigned to a USMC MAAG unit in Tsoying 1961-62 and we lived in offbase housing in Kaoshiung until a place opened up in the "Navy Compound" in Tsoying where we spent the rest of Dad's tour. It would be nostalgic to locate some postal covers postmarked from whatever PO was handling USMC/Navy mail there. I'll be looking into that.

Basil

Hi Basil,

Hope you find a cover with that marking and post it.

Best,
