Some time ago, I purchased a small lot of worldwide revenues which included the stamps shown above. All are embossed or depict the Spanish coat of arms, which indicate that they were issued by Spain or one of its colonies. The larger stamps are dated 1886-87, 1892-93 and 1898-99. All are denominated in pesos.

I looked through Forbin (1915), and they don't seem to be listed. I did find stamps similar to the horizontal blue stamp (row 1 stamp 2) listed under both Spain and Cuba, but I couldn't find this one.

I was told that these might be cut-squares from Spanish colonial revenue stamped paper (about A4 size). However, I cannot identify which colony they came from. I suspect that these are from the Philippines (there were two or three other Philippines revenues in the lot), but this is merely speculation.

Can anyone help identify them please?

A few weeks ago the second one was identified as a Cuban revenue stamp from the 1920's

Thank you. It's not from the 1920s since it is dated 1898-99, but Cuba does make sense.

It would be great if anyone has some more info about these, or pics of complete stamped papers.

If you are serious about this field I would recommend the American Revenue Association. Their website is www.revenuer.org .

Thanks for the reply. :) The Spain cut-out on HipStamp is denominated in pesetas, while the ones I have are in pesos (or mils or cents "de peso"), which is why I'm inclined to believe that they're from a colony rather than mainland Spain.

Adhesive revenue stamps (as listed in Forbin) of Spain are inscribed in pesetas, while those of the colonies of Cuba, Fernando Poo, the Philippines and Puerto Rico in pesos (although there are issues for the colonies in pesetas too).

I am inclined to agree, I only dabble around the edges of revenues, I post the information I have been given in the past, from information I cannot confirm, as I do not have the catalogues.
