Robert, the best way to confirm is to use watermark fluid...

I believe it will. You may try water 1st. Put in in a black plastic cup older or something similar. If watermark is present and strong, that may be sufficient

Safe brand watermark detector fluid - trichlorofloromethane. I think I spelled it correctly and if they still make it. I believe it may be one of those ozone depleting agents that may have been done away with. And then as everyone has said - try water. Some lighterfluids may have an oily after effect and is somewhat "flamable". Test on another cheapie or damaged stamp first if you must use it. .

Robert,

Bothwell paper is supposed to have a distinctive vertical honeycomb mesh. All other papers are horizontal wove paper.

In that case Jan, no use testing for watermark, since mine looks Horizontal...Thanks

Bothwell paper has a distinct diamond pattern that is easily seen in watermark fluid.

Robert,

I am not an expert on this issue, and admit that I have never seen an example with Bothwell paper. An example of the 1 cent sold last weekend at a local auction for $126. I now regret not having gone to view it.

It is too bad that the Unitrade catalog does not show this vertical weave. Thank you gportch for the scan so I know what to look for.
