Haven't had many 3 cent threads lately. so I thought I'd bring this stamp here. You can see the mark in the oval near the bottom left rosette. It's similar to the scratch on position 27L2L... But I can't seem to plate this stamp.
The plating wizard over at http://stampplating.com is pretty good. I plug in Plate 1L, 11A, B relief, and no guide dot, and this was the 3rd position out of not too terribly many options.
The mark we were looking at, as I suspected is a printing variety, clearly.
