Saw this today for the first time --what is this about ???

SELL IT FASTER with Premium placement does this mean it appears on the first page . As all you know some sections of ebay stamps has 50 or 100 pages of listings does this mean You pay extra and you get the front page like page 1 or 2 and your listing doesn't get placed out in Siberia ? Does this mean I could get in front of NYStamps and Evil Sprits listings .

I can see how this might affect the results buyers who use the ebay default "Best Match" with their searches, but what about the folks (like me) who always select the "Newly Listed" option.

Is there any reason to believe that these are forced into a certain order for presentation. Or that some items are not included? By looking at the listing times, these all seem to be in chronological order?

Am I missing something?

Does your 'premium' listing get pushed down to page 28 when users 'sort by lowest'?

I am not sure what it means . But did you notice my rant and rave in the above section about "My first stamp show" I mention the unfairness of the way stuff is listed in each section of stamps on ebay where a three large firms had 26% of the first 100 items listed under collections .

I can only hope my crying about this unfairness ,cause someone at ebay to wake up and use my crying as a way to increase corporate profits by coming up with "PREMIUM LISTINGS"

I know what your going to say ----dream on -----Ebay doesn't read this board .

Isn't this where they place your sale as a "similar item"? So it shows up when buyers click on something similar. .35 cents if it sells because of the placement. Or is that a different deal?

I wouldn't spend a bloody cent for "premium placement", as presumably it's part of their default "Best Match" sorting order, which only newbies use or people stuck on mobile apps and can't figure out how to change the sorting. Everybody I know has a favorite default search order that is something OTHER than "Best Match"... most recently listed, ending soonest, highest to lowest, lowest to highest... nobody, and I mean NOBODY intentionally uses Best Match.

In fact, the only time I ever see Best Match is if I'm somehow unintentionally redirected to a category page. All my saved bookmarks use non-Best Match sort orders.

Given this legal history, I am sure that they spell out exactly how it works in this version.

Best match & premium placement is just not the go it should be an Equal playing field.

Best match hurt me a great deal. The result finished me as 1,500 listings per week seller.

Now am sitting on heaps of stock that looks like will be selling for pennies.

KGV Collector ---Clearly not a equal playing field . If ebay lets a few big sellers have the first few pages in any section and there are over a few hundred listings chances are viewers will quit after viewing 100 or 200 listings ,so the smaller sellers will get a lot less eyeballs on their offers .

Thank you for your comment floortrader. My sales went from around 450 listing sales per week to single numbers. It has so affected me that I have fallen flat when it comes to stamping. The lack of interest to Australia stamp issues from 2000 on saddens me greatly.

My epiphytes or tree dwelling plants have grown and been dividered many many times now and have around 15,000 plants. About 10,000 of these plants will increase by 10,000 over the next 12 months and 10,000 will be ready to sell as mature colonies. You can not get a stamp stock to do what plant stock can do.

So my stamp stock sits there until I get inspired again. My age and eye sight may have already called me as time out but am still off balance concerning ebay and the lack of interest to Australia stamp issues from 2000 on. So it is really who knows at present what the future holds for any of us for that matter! But stamping has left a hole that nothing else can fill.

Hope you can work thru the health issues and congratulations on your plant business ,sounds like a growing business... {ha ha had to throw that in } .

I work with a fellow who sells a lot of my duplicates and we been noticing the same thing . Many sets and indiviual stamps are taken longer and longer to sell on ebay . More stuff is selling at the opening bid or not at all. It feels like we lost 50% of stamp buyers on ebay in the past two years . Looking back to 2002 -2006 when I sold three full closets of stamps as fast as I could list them ,that wouldn't happen now .
