HI Everyone, Looking For Storage/Display Help

Hi everyone! I've collected stamps on and off for 10+ years, but I've been getting more involved in my collection lately. I'm here to increase my stamp knowledge and to also get some advice on storing my stamps. Right now my stamps are in binders in lighthouse pages. However, many of them are also in Showgard pre-cut mounts before being placed in the lighthouse pages for my binder. Mounts seem somewhat pointless when in the lighthouse sheets for a 3-ring binder, but I'm unsure how to properly store individual stamps to protect them from damage. It was time to join this forum as I'm unaware of anyone that collects stamps that could give me advice on storage methods. I look forward to learning from everyone. Have a great weekend!

my main collections are lighthouse, selfdesigned blank pages, mounted in those pre cut mounts, but i'm not really satisfied with this.

personally I think those plastic mounts has a bad overall impression.

so i've been experimenting with a system provided by Safe... a black cardboard page with a plastic wrapped around it, on this i've mounted stamps with hinges. This shows the stamp in all it's glory, the black background highlights the stamp and perforations best I think.
this presents a new problem, because my collection is very specialized and i'd like to have text to most stamps as most people who sees it wouldn't know what was special about each stamp.

so right now i'm thinking about using publisher to create pages in layout that suits every page, each stamp mounted with hinges in a black square so I get the best impression. The problem with this is that I need a special printer to print in a certain format to fit in Safe albums.

so it can be quite a frustrating experience to find the right solution.

IF you're collecting cancellations, variations, prints, where you often move stamps around - then i'd recommend the Safe album pages with 8 rows.. then you can always add a page if you need.

Greetings AK, as you'll read, there are as many storage and display methods as there are stamp collectors it seems. Yes, putting a stamp into a mount (they come as clear or black background..) and then putting that into another protective Lighthouse page is overkill. Decide whether you want to go with the Lighthouse Vario approach, or an album. If you decide album (my choice), then you decide to hinge or not to hinge. Shakespeare said that. If you like protective covering over the stamp (hingeless) then you decide to use ready cut mounts, cut your own to size, or some proprietary hingeless album system. I use Lindner hingeless in the main. Then of course, you can make your own album pages, either the "Steiner" pages if you want the Scott cataloging system, or make your own from scratch if nothing out there suits your needs or if you are particularly computer graphics gifted.
