It appears to be a litho. I can't make out what type the animals are either. The animals are a newspaper type printing that has small black dots. No watermark that I can find.

Thanks!

There was such a thing as French Maroc in the ist half of the 20th century. It was a protectorate. I can not help much with your stamp but if you google "french maroc stamps" and go to images you are in for an eye opener

We had a discussion about these a little while ago, but I can't recall the thread. It's a bogus issue.

Looks somewhat like cattle or camels though! Maybe?

That stamp is a bogus issue of 1909 , for the local delivery service between TETOUAN {El Kebir} to ALCAZAR {El Ksar} ,there are seven stamps to the set . 5c. dark green ,10c. brick red ,20c. violet, 30c. violet, 30c. light brown ,50c. violet and a 5c on 10c. in red . They have a large single segmented circle postmark with "Casablanca" on the top and "Marco" at the bottom and all have the date in the cancel 8-1-09 in black ink .

Great background information ftrader. Bogus OK. But I still have one question to ask? Floortrader said all have the date 8-1-09. I see the "Marco" from the bottom but the datestamp sure looks like 3 5 07. Is it possible that some have an earlier datestamp or is this something else? Thanks.

Floortrader, I'm not sure what you mean by

For me, bogus means that false, fake, inyended to deceive, etc. If they were destined for a genuine local postal service then they would have been designed and made legitimately for that purpose, i.e. they are not bogus. Surly "label" would be a better designation. However, if they were made for the collector's market by deceiving people that there was a local delivery service when in fact there wasn't, then they are indeed bogus. Semantics, I know, but with important implications for whoever collects them.

TIM ---Don't want to get into semantics with you ,I flunked English for 12 years thru the Chicago Public Schools so I can never win a point with you on that subject . I believe the delivery service went out of business but continue to sell stamps to overseas stamp dealers so maybe wanted to make these stamps as the latest issue.

On the date thing I was reading my cancelations .

Tim - the issue listed by Maury from Tetouan to El Ksar (which I don't have, sadly) appeared in February 1897, and Maury indicates that the service ended in 1898. I think bogus is probably the right word for these.
