I think that there is enough dross out there that I do not need to take offense when artists turn postage stamps into art.

Last week's Affordable Art Fair included a few pieces by the UK's Rebecca J Coles ("working with paper & scissors") who - get ready - deep breath - applied her scissors to postage stamps to make little butterflies ... lots & lots & lots of little butterflies.

http://www.rebeccajcoles.co.uk/the-...stamp-series ... Rebecca J Coles' blog entry about "the stamp series"

http://www.rebeccajcoles.co.uk/work ... examples from both postage stamps and other types of "paper"

One thing's for sure: she works for the money.

Q/ Any stamps-into-art projects that caught your eye?

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey

We have a winner!

Finally, an answer to the question: What world did that stamp come from?

Any more stamps-into-art?

Cheers,

Topical Time, the journal of the American Topical Association, featured an article with examples of stamps-into-decoupage on pages 6-8 of issue 409 May-June 2018.

Those examples included a small keepsake box, a lampshade and, of course, a curbside mailbox.

Hmm ... lampshade

I have been assembling stamp collages for the past couple of years...18 so far.
Here's a link to Adrian Keppel's blog feature on my collages.

Collage type.

I received this in a junk box at auction, at first sight thought it to be a printed cinderella (ala Mad Magazine)
Turned out after scanning, to be a genuine Spanish "Duchess of Alba" (Goya)
cut out by a sharp knife and glued to a US Mother's day stamp.

Hysterical ! ... I am only sorry that, while they were at it, they did not drop Teddy's jaw or bulge his eyes.
