Hello All,

First time poster here so be gentle. I was going through some of my deceased grandfathers belongings and found a few of these printing plates. Do they have any value? He was an engraver all of his life.

Thanks in advance!

The envelopes shown are cachets for First Day Covers which were never used as such. If they had been used for their intended purpose, they would have the appropriate stamp affixed and been cancelled.

That being said, it looks as if these store something inside them. Is there a printing plate inside each one? If so, would you please provide an image of them?

The covers with cachet and the printing plates were produced by Fleetwood which is now owned by Mystic Stamp Company Camden,NJ.

Henry Gitner bought the archives from Artmaster covers with some of the original art and printing plates for their cachets. You can see the plates they are still offering here: http://www.hgitner.com/shop/46-us-artmaster

The original art is somewhere else on their site. I'd say that the John Glenn plate may be more valuable, as that is a very popular issue.
