As many of you may know I just got a bunch of Albums recently along with mine from when I was a Kid. Well I was going thru the albums and now I know why Persia / Iran stamps in all the albums are not their or no pages at all. Well that was all but the Citation super big album. In that album these are the stamps pictured below the mint one had been hinged previously b4 getting in this one and I'm sure the 1903 are Forgeries! But when I looked up the fakes they don't match in color and I really couldn't find real ones to compare I measured the circle on the 1903 and in Inch it is 0.448" / 11.37 mm Approx. depending on ID or OD ?? Also, it doesn't have the break in the diag line on the oblique octagon thats around the circle but they also say that some of the real one's are solid (No Break). Also, they state that the overprint is black but mine are dark green & blue and black. I scanned the stamps at 1200 dpi and Isolated the 1903's in groups of 3 And did the same with the higher value ones so the image is bigger so you can see them better. had been gone thru Theirs quit a few stamps for the section and I had only looked up those and I kept getting redirected to this site for the set of 1903. When I buy albums I usely look for stamps that are high value and naturally when buying them you / I should just assume that the album had been RAKED (gone thru) because who would sell a album for $45 bucks when there could be a stamp worth 10k. But occasionally those high value ones are gone and back in the 60's & 70's most of the stamps that are worth between 15-200 bucks weren't worth that much then. So it is possible to find some albums with good stamps like the old stock books I got where the stamps haven't been gone thru in 50 years because they were stacked on top of each other and they were semi stuck together and stuck on the page slots also the albums had that old book smell really heavy smell. And if they had been recently gone thru the smell wouldn't be that strong and the stamps would of not been stuck together. Well that's my thought But this Album's latest stamp I had found is from the 60's And many of the countries have the early 1850's and up stamps. Like Sweden and Germany and great Britton. So my Question is are these real or fake because I have also found some high Value German DDR stamps. And I guess the person/collector that built up this album was serious about collecting better stamps and this album I won for $112 bucks was a good deal their got to be several thousand stamps in it.Also it doesn't have much USA stamps so I think this album was comprised by a Eruopean collector perhaps Germany because the German stamp section is 90% complete with a lot of BOB's stamps and better German ones also. Who would you recommend for Certification that is reasonable. Because I'm a Vet on a fixed income and really don't have a couple hundred bucks to spend on getting them cert's for them and that's why I'm posting them here to see if they are worth doing and i'm in debt for all your help.
Also, what other countries have high value stamps I know that's a dumb question but it really is a time-consuming hobby and when you have 20 albums you get a bit congested ;-) I may remove certain countries and combine them in 1 album would you do that ////
They are all Fakes ....yes all those early Iran stamps . How ???? Because I have seen and handled hundreds of albums like yours . I am 95% certain .
Another mistake - your posting shows that you think there is ONLY one forger out there making these. These stamps were faked 80 years ago by about 4 different forgers....so don't be surprised when I tell you there are 7 different forgers who made the first issue of TIBET and a expert needs all 7 before he can call a stamp real . I also have 15 different Swiss Basel Doves all made by different forgers and looking for about 6 others,so as you can see a scan or a computer sample tells you nothing but you may have only one type of a fake .
Hi & Thanks I sort of thought so I had measure the octagon and it measured .765/1000 = 19.431 mm wide by .618/1000 = 15.6972 mm used a mitutoyo micrometer that I used for making Scale cannons I need to get a digital mic in mm its a pain to convert the decimal to mm.
What about the coat of Arms stamps ?? you know about German Ones
As a fellow veteran I can help. Please pm me. Put down the ruler and quit measuring octogons. I will provide you and any one else that wants to know. After 20+ years of persia, I can help....Lee

Yes please can we have some examples and knowledge put up here. Excuse me if I havent seen a topic addressing this already. Purely curiosity. And ananthveerappan: If you are keeping that for fun I think its a very pretty stamp! and why would someone go out of their way to reproduce it?
1903 Provisoire issue: The originals are handstamped (as are some forgeries) and the ones you have are clearly printed, a very common forgery type. All but one are on brown paper (typically without gum) which marks the basic stamps as forgeries. Now some genuine can be on toned or slightly grayish paper, but there are other characteristics to go by. Hopefully if I can get this computer to work with the scanner, I can provide a genuine example and details later.
1909 Coat of Arms issue: Nearly all mint ones you ever find are reprints; they made a lot. (There are also CTO reprints). So those are not really forgeries. The 1kr could be genuine, the rest of the kran values are reprints. The keys to identifying reprints are that the metallic colored frames overlap the basic design. Also for the reprints, the silver is much brighter, the gold is duller and often blackish as shown here and as noted by Scott.
1919 Provisoire: Single line above POSTES in the bottom scroll = genuine; two lines above POSTES = forgeries. Scott notes this.
Nothing to worry about with the airmails shown, but the earlier airmail overprints have been forged, particularly the errors.
ananthveerappan's 10kr officials were, as he knows, never issued. These are from the reprints in any case, with someone fooling around to make an invert. Again, the frames overlap the designs so they are reprints and the vignette (lion) show reprint characteristics. The overprints are much stronger and clearer than on the original issue at minimum.
I would love to follow this thread. I am in somewhat the same position ( inherited to add to my book as a kid) but my collection is only about 25,000 stamps.
I finally fixed my laptop, so here is the 1903 Provisoire issue. Genuine: This is handstamped but cleanly done. The break shown by the arrow is a key feature. That break might be filled in on a few stamps. Note also the squared-off "3" of "1903". There are other points like the S-curve of the tail and the sizes and shapes of roman and Farsi lettering.
Genuine stamps of this issue are scarcer than you might think. There are also genuine overprints in other colors, but those are considered to be either proofs or stamps made for collectors.
Forgeries: The leftmost is the most common, a printed forgery. The brownish paper is an immediate tipoff that the underlying stamp is forged. The others are handstamped, but the two middle stamps don't have the frame break and the "3", the lettering overall doesn't match the genuine, nor the shape of the tail. The rightmost stamp has an apparent frame break, but again, the "3" and everything else doesn't match the genuine.
