Can anyone point me in the direction of a site which lists the first day of issue or earliest know use of Gb Victorian stamps. my Stanley Gibbons Catalogues a bit vague and I cant find much on Google either, would they be listed in the specialist catalogue?
I didn't know if it would contain the info on plates and earliest usages but ill buy a copy from ebay now, im also after info on the postmarks of Liverpool, especially the pin cancels but again very limited info on google.
The listings are about 10 years old. If you have a date for a plate that's earlier than what's listed, I can put you in touch with people who would know if you beat the current date recorded.
Thanks for the links, exactly what I was looking for, Just one question though, when it says the stamp was put to press would this be the first day of issue to post offices or a short time before?..
The Perkins-Bacon records have the dates they actually used the various plates on the printing presses. It would take a few days for the stamps to be dried, gummed, and perforated. The EKUs are all a bit later than the printing dates.
