With the continued discussion of regumming and the quest of pristine, unaltered classic stamps, perhaps a member has a MNH stamp from the 1847-65 era.

My expectation is that this thread will be a "null set", because I don't believe such stamps exist more than very rarely as proven items.

I just punched in 7. You can do the same on up the line. Whether or not the Certificates are to be believed is another question.

Impressive! The third one down is a little disheartening.

My oldest never-hinged is an American Banknote (1881), but I have a couple of NY and Providence provisionals (1845-46) certified with original gum (not never hinged, though) - Original gum isn't terribly rare, but never hinged is.

Those perfs on the top look off to me. (not that that has any bearing on the gum).

Well, I reckon I'll have to chime in here. Here's a block of nine. Eight of the stamps are MNH, with the top left being disturbed o.g.

Here's the block:

I have a number of MOG classics in that date range, however aside from #65 and #73 (both with P.F. Certs), I'm not sure that any others are NH...perhaps #24, #35, #68 and/or #69? Now, you got me curious. I will check my National album when I get back home next week, and follow up with another post (w/pics of course) if I verify one or more NH examples.. the NH aspect definitely throws a question mark into the scenario.
