While awaiting potential trick or treaters tonight, I just bought this pair on the ol' 'bay.

I have no idea what they are for.

Do you?

Maybe a chit for school kids to get a little carton of milk at lunch time? If so, why the "5" denomination?

Jim

Are they possibly war rationing stamps used during WW2, and if not possibly a revenue stamp to be applied to say powdered milk or milk product?

Q/ Would a rationing stamp be so, well, casual?

Q/ Could it be a thrift stamp?

Cheers,

When I was a wee tike we had to use tickets and sometimes stamps to get our little cartons of milk at school lunch.

Not seen a "ration" stamp, in coil format, before.

"Stock roll tickets" a modern similarity.

reminds me of the s & h green stamps acquired when you bought groceries and when you accumulated enough of them and they could be redeemed.

m&m, Interesting point. Last guess I mentioned was obviously way off in left field somewhere. I believe this is the best guess yet to what these may be. Saved to get to a certain point value and obtain items or get a certain value off purchases. I vaugely remember similar ones we collected as children in the 60's from Sobeys and IGA stores.

And they came in rolls and that explains the coil format.
