Hi everyone ;
I have this Jackson 2 cent that is very interesting.
I think I know what it is ,but it has a little problem it has a grill, and if the book is right its not supposed have one.
My book is "Scott identification guide to U.S stamps" .
Maybe I'm missing something,this is what the book says.
In #34. the III type has both dots and the star on the cheek "check" The number of dots may be either two or three "check".
Now to #37 Hard ,very white paper and very white gum.Very clear impression in jet black "check". The whiteness of the paper is greater than the others, I don't know about that "maybe more transparent" .This reissue is always Type III it says? I have other Jackson's pic's to compare with . It is pretty hard to tell with these pic's not being very good. But this stamp I think is clearer one than the others.
That's all I have thanks for looking.
Have a Great Veterans Day.
Thanks Dan

Dan, It would help to have a higher-resolution scan of the back so the grill points could be counted accurately. I did the best I can and counted 12 horizontal points. It is most likely U.S. Scott #93.

You're welcome. Your count helps confirm it as #93, with a 2017 Scott catalog value of $60.

Its funny that the type doesn't mean a thing, the grill overrides the type but no mention of the star and the dots secret marks with the grill in the Scott's catalog I guess they changed it.

Dan, the Type II die is identified by the added dots. Stamps from the later plates made with the updated die were grilled, but a few ungrilled examples also are known (and I have one).
