Here is an image of a semi-postal (charity) stamp depicting Allied troops entering Paris and Strasbourg, and the Cross of Lorraine, designed and engraved by Jean Pheulpin, and issued by France on June 6, 1964 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the liberation of the two cities, Scott No. B379, Y&T No. 1410. Note: The tank depicted on this stamp appears to represent a version of the M4 Sherman, the primary battle tank used by the United States and the other Western Allies in World War II (see photo). - nethryk  |

Philippe François Marie Leclerc de Hauteclocque (1902-1947), was a French general during the Second World War. Here is an image of a semi-postal (charity) stamp featuring a portrait of General Leclerc and depicting a battle scene which includes a tank, designed and engraved by Pierre Gandon, and issued by France on November 22, 1969 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Liberation of Strasbourg, Scott No. B433, Y&T No. 1608, plus an image of a postcard photograph of General Leclerc. - nethryk  |

Belgium In memorial of General Patton semipostal stamps October 28, 1957 George Smith Patton, Jr. (1885 – 1945) was a senior officer of the United States Army. He is best known for his leadership of the U.S. Third Army in France and Germany following the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944. One of the stamp in the set depicts Patton's tanks in action in the battle of Saint Mihiel in 1918 and in the battle at Assenois in the winter of 1944.  |
