Rn-D1 For A Trenton, MO Lawyer

Luck was on my side and I acquired this for opening bid plus shipping.

I wanted it to go along with a cover I purchased earlier this year with Stephen Peery Attorney at law in the return address. It was addressed to his daughter Bessie Peery and postmarked in 1886.

I know that Stephen Peery was President of the First National Bank of Trenton, Missouri charter # 3957. Its charter was approved January 9, 1889 and later liquidated December 23, 1893.

The FNB and the competing Grundy County of Trenton (Charter # 3946) liquidated the same day and the resulting institution was the Trenton National Bank (Charter #4933).

Pretty check. I just got something from paperhistory today as well :-)

There are used copies of that check, but all of the ones I've seen are made over to Phoenix, Arizona and used when Peery had moved there. The Peery bunch is quite interesting.
