Seek AssistanceAny members have in-depth information on the Engraved Masaryk stamps please? I wish to study, but having skimpy information. I presume this is Sc#130 (Unwatermarked) but they have it as Type A10 yet it has the leaves in the mandrels as type A9 I have looked at "Big Blue" and will measure my stamps, are there any free "caliper" software for measuring stamps at 600dpi ? |

I see some useful illustrations in Michel. I'll post a scan later. |

Quote: Scott #131, type A15. Goodness, gracious, how did I miss that ? Talk about "catalogue blindness" Thanks Nigel. I wonder what makes these unique Sc#101B perhaps...... https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/201812296219 target _blank rel nofollow 201812296219 /a .jpg" border="0" style='cursor:default' onClick='doimage(this, event)'> https://findyourstampsvalue.com/rar...akian-stamps |

Hardly earth shattering, but worth mentioning, a constant plate flaw on Sc#116 A nick in the frame above the serif of the "T" in posta. |

Hi Ron,
It's easily done!
I see a block of four of a 2k Masaryk stamp sold at a Burda auction for 300,000 CZK.
This had the following description so was maybe the same watermark variety:
"1925 Pof.195II, Gravure 2K#269; blue, type II., line perforation 13ľ; block of four (!) with extremely rare HORIZONTAL WATERMARK P3 (!), fragment of CDS; some toning, otherwise good quality, certificates Karásek and Vrba, exp. by Karasek, Beneš, Vrba, cat. Pofis -,- ; only this block of four recorded, extremely rare!"

Great ! Cheers Nigel. I have found a decent copy of the Wmk design from 1960 Gibbons. Shall be using that when watermarking. 300,000 Czech Koruna equals $18,931.78 Australian Dollars |

Here's a section from my old Michel catalogue: I've had a quick look at this section but it needs careful reading. This design (Mi design r which I think this is basically Sc. type A10) is listed as having six main types. There are also some perf and watermark varieties as in Scott. For example, the three pictures of the "1 Koruna 1" area relate to Michel type II (Mi 228), type V (Mi 234) and type VI (Mi 235). The pictures of the beard varieties help distinguish type III (Mi 231) and two other types similar to type VI (Mi 236 & 237). Type I are larger format stamps. Type IV only seems to apply to the 3K value. I can't scan the whole listing because of the tight binding but I hope you can get some idea from this. |
