A Early Revenue With Others To Tell A Story!

WE need to have up dated research on revenues.It seams to me that the boston book is the final word but we are now in a time with far more research capabilities then in 1899.The best thing I enjoy the most is the research.

When you send a document in for a cert, They test things like paper gum Ink to make sure it has not been forged or tampered with. Im not an expert but on these documents you can clearly see the same ink was used to write the entire document including the stamp and 2nd for. And a different ink when they were paid in full. Thank you

So what. Even if it is it might have been written weeks later with the same pen. And it takes a close examination to know whether it is the same ink or not in any case. It's physically impossible for that stamp to have been put on that document on that date. It's that simple.

For this type of usage it's possible that it might go under the VSC6000 to look at the ink in the cancel. Just to cross the t's and dot the i's, even though the date really seals it. Not guaranteed, of course.

You appear to be adamant in your conviction that the APEX cert is correct and that what Bart and others are telling you is wrong. I would recommend sending this item in to the Philatelic Foundation for their verdict. The conclusion reached on the APEX cert does not align with reality.

Do not think that you are getting some random, anonymous opinions here.

Some of the members of this community, including some who are replying to your thread, are noted and renowned experts. These people are some of the same people who currently do the expertization for the certification organizations.

It would be wise to listen and learn from them.

Mr. Babcock posted this same item on the Frajola board a few years back and received the same advice. He didn't listen then, and I don't expect a different result here.

I just received confirmation from the APS that the expertization for this item was done in-house by Mercer Bristow using the APS reference collection. It was never sent out to Eric, Richard, or any other revenue experts.

Very bad decision by APEX. This isn't the sort of item that a reference collection would likely tell you anything about. It requires intimate familiarity with U.S. revenue stamps, their usage, and original delivery to analyze.
