Run across this beautiful North German Confederation cover today while moving stamp stuff into some new stamp shelves I built.
A very nice cover, but what I really love is the attractive write-up with the little map, and carefully arranged text. So thought I'd share with all.
I asked my father (from whom I
inherited this & much of my collection) where it came from (as it's not his writing ). Turns out there's a nice story behind this too. When he first started collecting as a teen back in 1950s Illinois, an elderly German immigrant stamp collector in the town befriended him, gave him many of his seconds and sparked a love for German stamps (which later turned into a nice Berlin collection). This gentleman specially made this sheet for him and gave my father the cover as a present. Just makes it all the nicer that I now have it.
