Hmmm. The fact that you are close enough to Danbury for this makes me wonder how many SCF members live within driving distance of me here in Westchester County, NY. Maybe there's a possibility of a SCF member-based stamp club in the area. Has anyone ever done a survey of where people in the forum live?
I did a survey on this forum a while ago but darned if I can find it now. New England had a very strong member presence with New York and Connecticut being particularly strong. I would indeed be interested in a forum member based club of sorts.
Well, I picked up my lot at Kellehers yesterday and am very happy after a very cursory view of the contents. I must say I have a thing about old crusty falling apart albums. The contents look like they will be a hoot to explore. It always amazes me how the stamps can be in such amazing condition while the album itself is falling apart. Something I find frequently with old Scott Speciality albums is that the curved steel sheets within the spines are often quite rusted even when there is no other moisture damage to the rest of the album. When you deconstruct these albums it is apparent how well made they were though. Steel backbones, copper plated rods, substantial rivets, cover material that does not delaminate, etc.. I hope that Scott never goes the route of White Ace because it is unlikely that anybody could produce the same thing and be profitable without having the existing Scott plant because the infrastructure replacement cost would be enormous. That is if Scott has not already outsourced everything. Would love to know.
