bonjour j'aurais aimé savoir comment on peu différencier un Timbre scott 205 et 205c. sur le lot il y en n'a un avec de l'encre noire est-ce un scott 205 ? merci d'avance d votre aide

hello I would have liked to know how to differentiate a timbre scott 205 and 205c. there is one in black ink on the lot: is it a scott 205? thank you in advance for your help

205C is the Gray / Brown printing and pretty scarce with only 23 in the Siegel census.

Why do you think that you have rare stamps? The overwhelmingly majority of stamps are the common variety. You should always start with the assumption that you have the most common variety, not the rarest variety. Think of it like rock collecting... how many rocks would you have to collect before you found a diamond?

When a stamp is that rare what makes it different is that a certification agency has certified it. Yellow-brown vs gray-brown isn't even worth discussing. Since there are no used copies you can be quite confident it is a 205.

My Mother collected rocks and we had the very best rocks in the neighborhood. The first clover I picked was a four leafer. Sometimes my fortune is good and sometimes it is awful. I had good fortune yesterday. I take no pleasure in raining on other folks parades. Although we need to learn. Specific tells on stamps are very helpful and greatly appreciated. No bother my friend. I am simply suggesting that you start with the assumption that a stamp is the most common variety. This prevents conformation bias and keeps your expectations realistic. I was also checking to see if you had been told by someone else that you had a lot of rare stamps.

Learning about stamps takes a lifetime and there are few shortcuts. Reading everything you can so that you can confidently identify stamps is a good first step. As such, I recommend that you try to identify your stamp and then post your opinion including your reasoning(s). This will be a much better educational experience than just posting images and asking others their opinions since we will be able to assist you in strengthening your identification processes.
