http://www.stampsmarter.com/public/US_Chart.php

I have added an interactive US stamp Totals tool to the 1847usa section of Stamp Smarter. It has a chart which displays Total Number of Stamps by Year but allows users to filter/query the data and will dynamically update itself.

You can quickly filter by 'Type' (Regular Issue, Airmail, Hunting, BOB, Office in China, Official, Parcel Post, Postage Due, Revenue, Special Delivery) by using the drop down box (as shown in Figure 2 and 3 below) and the chart will be updated.

You can also build your own custom filters (including multi-level, complex filters). Click on the Advance filter icon, select the columns and criteria you would like to use (as shown in Figure 4 below). The example shown in Figure 5 is filtering on the Description column for any stamp with 'Washington'. The chart then displays the total number of Washington stamp by year.

Note:
The data is based upon major and minor catalog numbers for each year. The issuing of major/minor catalog numbers year to year might not be perfectly consistent. The year of issue might be combined for some stamps. In other words, the database has 1862 for most First issue revenue stamps even through the imperf, part perf and fully perforated might have actually been in different years. (If folks think that buying one of every stamp is painful in this day and age, be thankful you were not buying one of every stamp around 1862.)
