Hello!

It has come to my attention that there are no threads at all on this website with reference to Maidan-Post. I would therefore like to begin a topic to provide some information and examples.

As I understand it, Maidan-Post was founded in Kyiv, Ukraine in 2014 during the Euromaidan Revolution, from which it received its name. They produce cinderella stamps, special postmarks and commemorative envelopes. I assume they have some connection to Ukrposhta, Ukriane's main post.

I purchased this cover for it's commemorative Holodomor stamp. However, I was interested by the cover's postmark, which proclaimed in both Ukrainian and English, 'Maidan Post'

I have been able to find very little on the matter except a Facebook page, however, I can then find nothing on the Facebook page that appears similar to the items I possess.

https://www.facebook.com/maidanpost

I also have a simply beautiful cover sent to me, which has Maidan-Post postmarks and other seemingly related cachets.

This has one example of the postmark pictured above; eight ordinary Ukrainian cancellations, one 'Father Frost Mail' cancellation, one 'St. Nicholas Mail' cancellation and one cancellation celebrating Kyiv as a Hero City (a Soviet honour bestowed on cities for outstanding heroism during the Second World War). It also has a mark proclaiming 'Lettre' so I assume at some point it has been in France on its journey.

On the reverse more cachets can be found. I made electronic versions of four.

'Maidan Post'

'Maidan Field Post'

'Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Heroes!

'PTN PNX'

The last of these is an abbreviation of the obscene phrase "Putin, poshol na khuy" which translates as "Putin, go f*ck yourself!"

The rest of the cachets are in a similar vein. One proclaims 'Military Contingent of Ukraine in the ATO Zone' (Anti-Terrorism Zone) and then simply 'FREE'.

The triangular cachets says on three sides 'Field Post', 'Military' and 'Free'.

The circular cachet says 'Ukraine. Maidan Post. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Heroes!'

I would say that some of these cachets are not directly related to Maidan-Post, but perhaps they are.

This is all the information I can gather and all the electronic postmarks I have the willpower to create at present; if I have anymore I shall add them on. Please if you have any other information to add regarding these, do reply!

Thank you,

~Magnus

Ukranian Revolution took place in February 2014. It appears these covers have been made up using rubber stamps as propaganda for Ukranian support against the Russian aggression. Obviously not a postal entity.

According to wikipedia - The term "euromaidan" was initially used as a hastag of twitter. Then an account by that name was made during the protest that accquired meaning as revolution and overthrow of government.
