No question here, just a story. Comment, if you wish.

My mother routinely wrote home from college. The correspondence, with related envelopes, somehow survived 60+ plus years of storage. The image is one of the more "busy" examples. There are dozens of pieces, almost all with a special delivery plus a commemorative first class stamp of some kind. A few strips of three 1-cent coils (Scott 839) appear.

I realize the stamps are of almost no value. Also, the letter contents are of no interest beyond immediate family. My daughter, who is now in college and is walking in her grandmother's footsteps, may be the only person in the world motivated to read through all this stuff. I'll either scan the documents or store them in clear sleeves.

BFR,

I like this cover. It looks like you have a priceless correspondence from the 1950s.

.
I have a goodly stash of letters from the early 1970s, when my brother was living half-time in Vietnam & Thailand.

Stamps, shmamps ... the letters capture a person, at a time, in a place.

Q/ Can your daughter read cursive?

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey

Special delivery covers are always nice. However I cannot figure out the rate; air mail was 6 cents per oz. So why the extra penny?

Sure she does... her penmanship is questionable, however. All that Instagram stuff.
