I took advantage of the 15% discount offered today on ebay purchases to buy some items from a UK dealer. When arriving at checkout ebay would not permit me to use anything other than my saved credit card for payment. I wanted to use my Paypal link to my checking but got the message that if I wanted to pay that way, I had to remove the discount request.

I've never run into this. Is this a new thing? Not big deal but just curious...

On a side note I thought ebay was 10% ebux until the end of the year. I don't think I got that today...

I used the discount too for a GB purchase and decided to use my credit card and the credit card conversion rate. And wanted to let you know the credit card company (chase visa) was a better rate than PayPals conversation rate. Worth a couple of bucks

I used the 15% discount today on ebay and paid via Paypal without any problem.

Oh, poo. I didn't notice anything about this 15% discount yesterday, and I did buy some stuff on ebay. The $1.65 I could have saved would have paid for my entire purchase today!

The popup notice I got when trying to request Paypal said something like 'You are not able to use that option for this purchase, if you wish to proceed please remove the discount code'.

It sounded to me as if ebay couldn't get PP to cooperate with their discount scheme. I'd never encountered this before and it sounds as if few others have as well. Strange.

If seller has opted into managed payments, PayPal won't be accepted at any price. Managed payment sellers may have PayPal working again sometime next summer, assuming that ebay can get its act together.
