History Of Stamp Collecting Book?

I have been looking for a book on the history of stamp collecting and have come up empty. The best that I've come up with so far is Nassau Street by Herst but it's more of a memoir of the "golden age" of stamp collecting than an actual history. I've also found several books about the history of famous stamps and the collectors who owned them and, while interesting, are not really what I'm looking for. Any ideas?

Contact the American Philatelic Research Library. They can even let you check out any books through inter library loan.
