#1861 Gallaudet With Track Tagging

Track tagging which is described as two parallel tagging gap or "hot" lines resembling railroad tracks is typically associated with some transportation coils printed on the Cottrell press. Here is an example of one of the Great American issues that appears to have "Track" tagging in the vert. direction. The Thomas Gallaudet was printed on the Cottrell Press. The spacing of a pair of the vert. tagging gaps on the left stamp matches the width of precancel bars exactly. Interesting in that it shows up on only one of the stamps.

Mstocky2, great picture of this pair. PNC3 calls the "track" tagging "railroad tracks" and are most likely caused by re-using the rubber mats originally used to print the Bureau precancels. Also. "tagging hotlines" are very brightly tagged lines, not these dark lines.

Thanks Peter. On the Tagging DB I refer to these as "Railroad Track" tagging. Gene P. just refers to them as Track tagging. I copied a generic description for this type of tagging. I should have been specific in this case as they are tagging gaps and not hot lines.
